54000 Series Event Recorder
Integrated Speedometer Control

The Integrated Control Module (ICM) allows the Bach Simpson 54000 ERS series of event recorder to directly control two Bach Simpson SSA speed indicator heads as well as providing on / off relay outputs for penalty braking control and pulse type outputs for odometer and distance related external functions.

Integrated control means that the displayed speed always matches the speed recorded through use of common wheel diameter and Pulse Per Revolution (PPR) scaling factors stored in the ERS.

Use of redundant speed sensor sources is supported in order to maximize availability of the critical speed indication function.

The ICM indicator outputs provide more than sufficient power and precision to support better than +/- 1degree indication accuracy on a Bach-Simpson SSA indicator ( +/- 0.3 MPH for a 90 MPH / 270 degree indicator).

A push-button triggered self test function allows rapid validation of the complete range of indicator movement.

Two optically isolated switched open drain outputs can be software configured to provide metered distance pulses up to resolutions of 2.5 meters per pulse, or slower rates (1 pulse per mile) for driving electro-mechanical distance counters.

Three dry contact relay outputs can be software configured for driving external on / off type functions such as penalty braking and auxiliary light control.
